In a recent study, scientist’s did a research to find out which meal is the best for breakfast. The results of the study were published in the Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism. They found out that oatmeal is the undisputed champion. In the study, 36 people were divided into 3 groups.
Each participant consumed 350 calories a day. The first group had oatmeal, the second cornflakes and the had only water for breakfast. All of them had the same lunch and dinner.
Experts measured the levels of satiety in each individual in the next three hours. Also, insulin and blood sugars were tested.
Participants from the first group had fewer cravings and ate 31% less for lunch.
The second and the third group had a lot of cravings soon after the breakfast hours, while the first group was feeling full. That is because the oatmeal “spends more time” in your stomach.
The final results showed that oatmeal reduces the calorie intake by 31-50% in cooperation with other foods.
